How to Clean Roller Blinds

Roller blinds look great in many different settings. They are an easy to use, practical solution to keeping sunlight out of a room, whilst being easy to roll up and let in a plethora of natural light.

Rather handily, roller blinds can also come in wipe-clean materials, making them a great solution for kitchens, bathrooms and playrooms (so long as the chord is appropriately tied up, out of the reach of children).

If your roller blind is made from fabric that can’t easily be wiped clean, it is essential that you know how to get rid of these marks, before they become stubborn stains.

Before you go in with harsh chemicals, it is important to note that many marks will simply wipe away with a warm, damp cloth. If the mark on your blind is wet, be sure to blot the stain with a dry, clean cloth to soak up the residue. From here, you can then use your damp cloth.

If the stain on your blind isn’t budging with a damp cloth alone, you can use a fabric stain remover, following the manufacturer’s instructions. It should be noted that if you do use a stain remover, the treated area of your blind may look noticeably lighter than the rest of the blind.

Dust is something that can make your blind look duller than it once was. Fortunately, you can remove dust easily using your hoover. Before you do this, make sure you place a clean fabric brush over your hoover nozzle. Roll your blind down so that all of the fabric is on show, then place your hoover nozzle at the top corner and work your way across the blind in seamless lines. In order to ensure you do not pull on the blind too much whilst you are cleaning it, be sure to stand on a safe and stable footstool to reach the top of the blind safely.
