Metal Venetian Blinds
The great thing about metal blinds is that they are extremely practical. However, just like any other type of window dressing, they can collect dust and marks.
Before you begin cleaning your blind, you should check each of the slats for any sticky stains. Rubbing a dry duster cloth over these patches will make the fibres of the cloth stick to the stain and it won’t be easy to remove.
If you spot any stains or sticky areas of the blind, use a damp cloth with a mild detergent – such as washing up liquid – to gently remove the mark. Once this process is finished, used a dry paper towel to dry the bind.
Next, close the blind and use a soft duster to work your way over each slat. A dusting mitt or glove is ideal for this job and will collect the dust easily.
For a deep clean, you may use a vacuum to clean your blinds so long as it has an upholstery attachment. Without an upholstery attachment, you may scratch your blinds.
Wooden Venetian Blinds
To begin cleaning your wooden blind, you’ll start in much the same way as you would with a metal blind – by spot checking your blind for stains. However, instead of using washing up liquid, you should use a specific wood cleaner.
Once again, when you come to clean the rest of the blind, you should close the blind to make the slats flat and begin dusting using a microfiber cloth, glove or mitt.
For dust that is difficult that has built up over time and difficult to remove, you may find it better to use a paper towel to get rid of the dust.
