Cleaning Roman Blinds

Roman blinds are one of the most popular blinds in homes up and down the country. The way the material is gathered as they are pulled up into position provides an air of luxury to a room and interest to the window.

Here at Elite Blinds, we offer Roman blinds in a wide range of colours and in our latest post, we discuss how to clean Roman blinds to keep them looking fresh for many years to come.

Regular Cleaning

The best way to keep your Roman blind clean is to regularly vacuum away dust from the blind, using a special upholstery attachment. Begin vacuuming your blind in a downwards motion and pay special attention to the bottom, edges and folds of the blind where dust can gather.

Stain Removal

If your blind has become stained, try using a clean damp cloth to dilute and lift the stain. Try to keep the stain in one area and dab the stain, rather than rub it around the area.

If you need to use a stain remover to lift the stain, make sure that you choose a remover that is suitable for the fabric of your blind and use it in-line with the manufacturer’s instructions. One thing to be wary of when spot cleaning your blind is that you could end up with a patch on your blind that is visibly lighter than the rest of the blind.

Look out for Dry Clean Only

Although you may be able to clean your blind at home, be aware that some blinds may be marked as “dry clean only”. Where this is the case, make sure you check your local laundrette to ensure they take in blinds.
